Shoot Out recreates all the drama of a penalty shoot out in which you bet on whether the penalty will be scored, saved or missed. You also have the optional opportunity to bet on the location the striker will place his penalty.

How to Play

In each penalty shoot out there are five different strikers and 1 goalkeeper. By assessing the relative strengths and weaknesses of the players in the statistics section (click on “info” button next to player’s name) you can use your betting judgement and risk evaluation skills to bet on the most likely outcome of the penalty and where the striker is most likely to place the penalty.

For each of the five penalties you can bet on what the outcome will be: Goal, save, miss or the location of the penalty. Find the player from the list you wish to bet on then select 'Goal', 'Save' or 'Miss' then select your stake by using the + and - buttons. After you have added your bets to the betting slip click 'Submit bets' to confirm your bets you will then be given the option to place 'extra bets' on where the penalty shot will go, you have the option of betting on up to 9 areas in and around the goal. After you have chosen your area, select your stake by pressing the - or + button. You do not have to place 'Extra Bets' and can continue by pressing 'skip extra bets and watch shoot out'. If you wish to clear your bets click the 'Clear All bets' button with a Red 'X' next to it.

Place your bet - Simply click on the outcome and fill in your stake then click the Add to Betting Slip button on the bottom right of the screen. You can bet on the result of 1 or all 5 of the penalties. You then have the option to 'Submit Bets' which will begin the game, or you can edit your bets by clicking the 'Back to Betting screen' button which will take you to the previous screen to edit your bets.

You then have an optional extra bet to place on what zone the striker will place the penalty. Once again the stats sections will reveal each individual strikers preferred penalty placement habits, allowing you to assess the most likely outcome, relative to the odds. If you make a mistake while placing and 'extra bet' then you can click the red 'X' beside the 'Clear All Bets' button which will let you start from scratch. 

Then just sit back and watch the drama of the penalty shoot out unfold.

Replay

You can see a replay of a strike by pressing the ‘Replay’ button available after every strike. The replay toolbar allows you to choose slow motion, frame-by-frame view and even view a strike with the striker retouched out of the replay.

You can play again with the same players or start again with a new set of players.

Who am I betting with?

You are betting with Paddy Power bookmaker. We are the bookmaker laying the odds for you, the punter, to take. If you lose your bet, we keep your money. If you win your bet, we pay you your winnings.

Is Shoot Out fair?

The game is a game involving fixed odds and you are just as likely to win in one race as you are in any other. Each game is generated in isolation. Therefore if you have won money on the last five races there is nothing to say you will be less likely to win on the next race just because you are on a winning streak.

How are the odds calculated?

Each and every penalties odds represent a true reflection of that penalties chances. Factors such as the previous penalties of the striker, the experience and the quality of the keeper and the conditions during the shoot out are all factors that contribute towards the compiling of the odds.

Can I try the game for free?

Yes. There is an option whereby you can play for fun, and this is well worth doing if you wish to develop a feel for the game before depositing your hard-earned cash!

Can I bet on more than one penalty or more than one outcome in a penalty?

You can bet on as many penalties and outcomes as you wish, and you can bet on all 15 outcome is a penalty shoot out if you really wanted to. Of course, such a method would ensure you a winner in a race but the chances are that you would not make much money using this system!

What is the minimum/maximum I can bet?

50 cent/50 pence is the smallest bet that you can place. The maximum bet you can place is £/€1,000. Of course, the maximum amount you are allowed to stake within this framework will ultimately be dictated by the available funds that you have in your account at the time.

The game does not download load properly. Why is this?

This problem can be broken down into two more specific complaints, which are as follows:

1. The game is not displaying properly- This will be due to your screen resolution being too small. The game works on a minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels. To change your screen resolution simply go to your desktop and click on the right-hand mouse button. A menu will pop up and you will need to select 'Properties'. Another box will pop up and you will need to select 'Settings' from the tabs running along the top of the box. From here you will be able to alter your screen resolution.

2. The game is simply not working at all - This may be because you need to download the latest version of Flash Player. After loading the game, you will have received a screen prompt asking you whether you wanted to download the latest version of Flash Player. Downloading this will ensure that you will be able to play the game without any problems. If you ignored or switched the prompt off, you can go to the Macromedia website and download Flash Player from there.

The game seems to be running very slowly. Is there anything I can do about this?

Unfortunately not. Our game relies upon your machine, and will run as quickly or slowly as your machine allows. Other than upgrading your computer and its facilities, there is little that can be done with regards to improving the speed of the game on any one machine.

Disconnection
If you are disconnected during game play, the status of your game is remembered and will be restored when you enter the game next time. A pop-up window will appear notifying that you have been disconnected. The restored game will be continued from the same point at which it was terminated.

4. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

4.1 You agree that your use of the Product is at your sole risk.

6. TERMINATION

6.1 We may terminate your account (including your username and password) if we believe in our sole discretion that you have breached any of these Conditions, the General Rules or the Terms and Conditions or have acted in a manner inconsistent with the spirit of any of them or for any reason we discontinue to provide the Product.

6.2 You acknowledge that we do not have to give you prior notice of any such termination.

7. GENERAL

7.1 No bet can be cancelled by a customer once confirmed by us. All valid bets stand once confirmed whether the customer is on-line or off-line, subject to the provisions set out in clause 3.3 or as otherwise provided in the General Terms or (as applicable) the Terms and Conditions.

7.2 We reserve the right to withdraw the Product or any element of the Product at any time without notice to you, and we will not be liable as a result of any such action.

7.3 Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the General Rules, the maximum pay-out (meaning the aggregate winnings including returned stakes) for any calendar day (based on Greenwich Mean Time) to any individual customer (including any other person accessing the Product using your user identification) or to any group of customers acting together is £2,000,000 or currency equivalent, notwithstanding the number of different games played by the customer or group of customers acting together in the calendar day.

7.4 If any part of these Conditions shall be deemed unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed to be severable from these Conditions and shall not effect the validity and enforceability of any of the remaining provisions of these Conditions.

7.5 No waiver by us of any of these Conditions shall be construed as a waiver of any preceding or succeeding breach of any of these Conditions.

7.6 Nothing in these Conditions shall be construed as creating any agency, partnership or any other form of joint enterprise between you and us.

You agree that you shall have no remedy in respect of any misrepresentation which has not become a term of these Conditions save that your agreement shall not apply in respect of any fraudulent or negligent misrepresentation whether or not such term has become a term of these Conditions.

8.1 These Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Ireland and you irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
