Punto Banco

Did you know that Punto Banco is James Bond's favourite gambling game, and that in the original version of Casino Royale he played Punto Banco and not Texas Hold'em (they just changed it for the movie as it was popular)? Us neither - we just found it while trying to find something to fill this space...

Punto Banco - Help

How to win

Predict the winner in a game between the "Player", the "Banker", or whether it will be a "tie".

If you win, your winnings will be credited to your account immediately.

Your payout will depend on the result and type of bet placed and the amount of your stake.

If you do not predict the winning hand between the "player" and "banker" or as a "tie", you will lose your stake amount.

Card deck and Chip values

Punto Banco uses eight full card decks, which are reshuffled after every hand.

The number on each chip relates to real values in your chosen currency, they differ according to the operator. Refer to the actual game play to understand the values.

How to play

1. Select your stake by clicking on a chip at the bottom of the screen; to change the chip value at any time click on another chip. Then click on the table betting area relevant to your bet to place your stake, either "Player", "Tie" or "Banker", the different areas will illuminate when your curser rolls over them.

Selecting the "banker" area will back the banker, selecting the "player" area will back the player and selecting a tie will predict a tied result. A currency value will be displayed alongside the chip. Click the Clear button if you wish to change your stake at this stage. The Double button will double the stake. Then select Deal.

2. A two card minimum is dealt to the player and the banker, the cards are placed face up. With all cards played the scores of the two hands are compared.

3. The value of the hands will appear underneath the cards (a number in a disk).  The value of a hand is the right digit of the total of the cards. For example, a hand consisting of a Jack, a 5 and a 6, has the face total of 11, so this hand has a value total of 1. At this stage, the total for each hand will always be in range 0-9.

4. Without any interaction on your behalf a third card may then be dealt to the player, the banker or both. Whether this third card is dealt depends upon the rules ascribed to the Player or the Banker, these are as follows.

a. If the first 2 cards of either hand total 8 or 9, the hand is declared a natural and both hands "stand" (no third card is drawn). If only one hand has a natural, it automatically wins. If both hands are naturals and of the same value, the hands tie, else the hand with a total of nine wins over the hand with the total of 8. No further cards will be drawn, without exception.

b. If both hands are not standing then the players total is considered. If the players total is five or less then the player"s hand will receive an additional card.

c. If the player"s hand stood and did not receive an additional card (i.e. if it was a total of 6 or of 7) then the banker"s hand will only receive an additional card if its value is five or less.

d. If the player"s hand received a third card then the bankers hand will only receive a third card under the following conditions:
